Small Business Monthly Review — Free Excel Workbook
A free Excel and Google Sheets workbook for one-person shops: monthly revenue, fees and expenses with net profit, margin, per-product profit and a dashboard that compares this month with last.
What's in it
A twenty-minute month-end review with the arithmetic already done: net profit and margin per month, profit and margin per product, and a dashboard that tells you which product is quietly carrying the shop.
- Five sheets: Start Here, Monthly Inputs, Products, Notes & Decisions, and a Dashboard
- Twelve month rows with net profit and margin calculated for you, plus a year-to-date total
- Forty product rows: profit and margin per product calculate themselves from units, revenue and unit cost
- A Dashboard that names your best and weakest product and compares the latest month with the one before
- A sample month and three sample products so you can see the formulas working — clearly marked, delete them when you start
- No macros, no add-ins and no external links, so nothing has to be enabled to make it work
No email, no account, no redirect. The file downloads straight from this site.

How to use it
- Open the workbook and read the Start Here sheet — it takes a minute and explains what counts as what.
- Delete the two sample rows on Monthly Inputs and the three sample rows on Products.
- Fill one row per month on Monthly Inputs: revenue, refunds, fees, advertising and other expenses. The cream cells are yours; the grey ones are formulas.
- Log what sold on the Products sheet. Profit and margin appear as you type.
- Write two lines on Notes & Decisions. If you can't fill in 'Decision', the review isn't finished.
- Read the Dashboard last. Best-by-profit and best-by-margin are often different products, and that gap is usually the useful part.
